Moving to Johannesburg with my mom has been a big change for me. New environment, new schools new everything – but I’m adjusting well. I feel like I’m growing a lot as a person. I’m more matured, more focused and I’m starting to understand what I want for my future. I’m working hard at school and trying to be the best version of myself. I want to give a big THANK YOU to Rainbow of Hope. Even after the move, they have continued to support me with my schooling and my necessities. Rainbow of Hope, your support means everything to me and it keeps me going! Thank you for never giving up on me. I’m truly grateful!

Henrietta’s favourite subjects are History, Afrikaans and English. She loves to dance and her favourite colours are black and blue. She’s also a long distance and cross country athlete and she would love to study further to become a nurse or go into children’s law.

Diagnosed with autism, Lauretta has defied all odds. Since a young age her dream has been to be a ballerina. She has been with Glory of Dance for the past 6 years. Lauretta also does Aerial dancing and rock climbing on a Wednesday at Bloc 11 in Paarden Eiland. She loves dancing…that is her passion! She also loves cooking and baking too! She one day wants to teach ballet and dance. absolutely loves this!

Keenan loves to draw. It relaxes him and keeps him out of mischief! However, he does NOT like school! He loves clowning around far more! Keenan’s dream is to become a stuntman in movies. He recently changed gymnastics clubs. He now attends Mega Gymnastics. When joining gym Keenan went from a beginner to Level one in two week! He is now in Level 4 for both gymnastics and tumbling! He has won four gold medals in four different competitions. Later in this year, 2023, he will be participating in the Western Province Gymnastics Championships!

Now in her early twenties Shayner has lived at Rainbow House for 14 years. Her dream was always to work with animals, but, she has found a new love…teaching! On the side she is both a Sh’Zen, Herbalife and Annique sales lady. Shayner also babysits and pet sits as a means to supplement her income. She loves drawing, does nails. Shayner has now moved into what we call Assisted Independent Living with Zoe. She is studying online towards a Bed Degree. Shayner is enjoying her new found independence!

Hip with the hype. I’m Zoe the tiny explosive, happy when there’s a beat to get me moving. I got smooth moves while I’m grooving. I LOVE dancing and would like to one day teach dance. I live at Assisted Independent Living with Shayner since last year. I am studying part time towards my matric. I would also like to do a course in Project Management.

I lived at Rainbow of Hope for 10 years and then moved onto Assisted Independent Living at O’Graceland at the Eco Village in Pinelands. I made the decision to move from Rainbow of Hope and even though it wasn’t the best decision I was supported throughout this journey by everyone at Rainbow of Hope. So yes, even though I no longer live there, I still find major support through them. My dream is to be a Foot Care Specialist/Podiatrist. I am currently studying for my matric part time and working part time at a Salon called Heaven on Earth.
